Cartoon - January 27th - "The Dragon Lady"

Postby Big Scary Monster » 27 Jan 2005, 16:49

Maybe its the fact that I just came home from Vegas and had this happen to me twice while I was there, but i thought that the Dragon Lady cartoon was pretty funny. Especially how nice the first dealer was before they brought in the dragon.

Isn't this a Vegas Vacation rip off?

I would let the unoriginal, borderline rasict stereotype slide if...

IT WAS EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT FUNNY

I did like that part, but overall I agree that the time spent putting together one of these cartoons should result in a bigger payoff if they're going to keep doing this.

Anyone know what animation production costs run these days? I would imagine that a cartoon is considerably more expensive than an SG column, and I'm not quite sure why ESPN chose to go this route in the first place.

I have always said that the cartoons were a waste of time, but since we are stuck with them, I am trying to look on the bright side. Its the little things that will pull us through this... and I bet you are right, I bet these do cost more than a regular column.

Do you think SG laughs to himself when he watches these cartoons? Do you think he thinks they are hilarious? Do his friends think they are hilarious?

Only if they drink heavily

I think it's pretty obvious that SG's friends drink heavily.

If I was unleashing crap like that on the world I'd drink too.

I thought the cartoon was funny. When Dragon Lady just puts the cards down and collects the money in a blur.

I'm wondering if the cartoons make money. Obviously there is the cost of write, producing, and bandwidth -- do the Centrino adds cover the cost? Maybe were better off with an extra column or two a month instead. Most people don't seem to like the cartoons.

MAYBE we're better off with an extra column or two a month if it means losing the cartoons? MAYBE???!!!?????
