I still think this is Simmons' best idea ever.

Just put the man in charge of the NBA All-Star Weekend for crying out loud.
bosux191820042090: what kills more is that now more than ever the team needs him[A-Rod] to put it on his back, and he can't...i hate to say this, but if given a choice i would rather have ortiz on my team any day

SG calls Kobe one of the NBA's good guys. Man did he fool everyone.

Yeah, the SG sure sold me on H-O-R-S-E back then, too. I still can't even hear mention of All-Star week without actually getting angry that HORSE isn't involved. Back before Insider, I'd guess I probably went back to re-read this thing 5 times on my own. Definitely his greatest idea.

He's always joking about how he wants someone to give him control of something or other (ESPN6, etc.) - but I really feel like he is the #1 authority on what should be done with All-Star weekend. Even given very restrictive constraints on the marketing that the NBA is trying to accomplish - I feel 100% confident he would meet those objectives more successfully than they're met now AND give us (fans) a better weekend.

Is it outside the realm of possibility that ESPN could work with the NBA to give Simmons some creative input? I'd guess so - but what the hell do I know? I really feel very strongly about H-O-R-S-E.

I agree 100% that there's no one better than the SG to be in charge of NBA All-Star Weekend. HORSE is such a fantastic idea that it actually amazes and angers me that they haven't tried it yet. Someone needs to make this happen, and Simmons is undoubtedly the best man for the job.

I completely agree that HORSE would be an awesome addition to the activities. However, what happens if a game ends up going ridiculously long?

That's the problem with it, did anyone else see the (heavily edited) game of HORSE between Akers and Vinatieri that took forever? I think they're worried about that. That being said, considering the crap they put out there, especially the lame WNBA crossovers they try, Horse is a far better use of the time for everything besides the dunk and 3 point contests (and that includes the rookie challenge).

They ended up agreeing the next guy to get a letter would lose. Maybe that would be like the penalty shot of a game of H-O-R-S-E that went too long.

If they have a problem with longevity they can shorten it to P-I-G or something.

Why not solve the marketing problem and viewership problem and have them spell W-N-B-A? Tell me whoever's playing in that isn't gonna try his ass off to NOT get one of those letters.

Ouch. Good call. Or perhaps we should just offer some weed and a get out of jail free card to any player that wins the game. The guys would start trying to make crazy shots to win that prize. I guarantee that a Trailblazer would win the contest every year.
